South Summit president Maria Benjumea officially opened this year’s event to a fantastic reception on the Arena Stage this morning.

“I hope you have 3 marvellous days here at South Summit”, she told the excited crowd. “Here, you will find more than 400 speakers, 150 investors as well as the next big thing in the Marketplace where our 100 startup finalists all are”.

One of those investors, Atomico’s Niklas Zennstrom, took to the stage early in the day to talk about thinking big and thinking global. Niklas co-founded Atomico and Skype and his in-depth knowledge was a real treat for those who managed to grab a seat at the Arena Stage.

For the early risers of the entrepreneurial community, there was Mario Alonso Puig’s starting your day right mindfulness session. Linkedin’s co-founder Allen Blue then took to the Arena Stage to speak to Liz Fleming about value, vision and disruption and gave deep insights to those in the crowd.

Thousands of visitors have already poured into La N@ve, passed through the Marketplace and had the opportunity to meet some of the 100 finalists of our startup competition among others. 

Eli Broverman of Betterment, Dave McClure of 500 Startups and a whole host of other incredible entrepreneurs and investors will all be taking to the various stages throughout the rest of the day.

South Summit will continue to run from October 5th to 7th at La  N@ve.
